Nissan Repair: 1995 nissan altima stalls, nissan altima, block radius

Question
hi.  For about a month now my altima cuts out while i'm driving.  Once she cut out 4 times in a 3 block radius.  I assumed becuz she wasn't given enough time 2 warm up.  Sometimes she almost cuts out but regains her idle.  Usually when she does this i start her right back up.  But yesterday she cut out while i was driving and when i tried to start her she'd crank but wouldn't start.  I tried 5 more times and no luck.  After waiting about 20 minutes, she finally started and i drove home.  She started up again and i let her run for a while and she didn't cut out.  What could be the problem?

Answer
Hi Pierre -

Looks like your ignition module to me. It is located in the distributor.

The other thing it could be is your fuel pump.

Next time you have a no start condition, pull one of the spark plugs out, insert a screwdriver in the boot so it touches the terminal inside, and while holding the screwdriver about 1/4" from any metal surface, have someone crank the engine. If there is no spark jumping between the screwdriver and metal, then it is the module. If there is, and the car still does not start, check the fuel pump.

Please be careful not to touch any metal surface while doing the spark test. You will get jolted. Also, when you replace the module, it is a good time to replace the cap and rotor as well.

Hope this helps
