Question
Hi, I have a 97 Altima 2.4L with around 116K miles on it. from last two weeks i'm looking some strange behavior and its not consistent. When on a uphil I accurate the car my battery and brake light comes and as soon as i reach the top of hill it goes off but its not consistent it happen sometime only on a chilly day and gear doesn't shift but it works fine on a normal day when temp is around 30s.
Today morning I noticed that when I start the car few drops of green coolant and I check I still have the coolant in the bottle. I drove around 25 miles and check it again and now no leak but the car is well heated. the temperature shoes normal around little less than half. There is no other light is on in car running great. Can you please help me to point out the problem I don't want to risk this car because thats the only way of earning for me. Thanks Loki

Answer
Hi Loki -

You and I need to go back and forth a few times, because I need more information. I hope you don't mind.

When the car goes off after the lights go one, can you start it right away? Is the car hot or cold?

Please check for me the radiator itself as far as the coolant is concerned. The bottle is just a reservoir. Open the radiator cap and check the level. Please do this when the engine is cold. Let me know if you had to put a lot of water in.

Secondly, check all connections from your battery. If there is corrosion on the terminals, remove the terminals and clean it with baking soda. sand the contact points and replace and spray with gasket spray or coat with grease.

Let me know -
thanks and aloha
