Nissan Repair: no fire 2000 nissian exterra, crank angle sensor, nissian exterra

What should i look at that would cause no fire? any suggestions would be nice

First, the crank angle sensor.  Are there any codes as in the check engine light is on?  Wal Mart sells a scanner for $68 bucks.  Or Autozone or Checker will check them for free.  But, you cannot drive down to the parts store.  I would think the crank angle sensor first.  Second, I would be looking at the positive battery cable and the fuses there.  Lastly, the module or the coil itself.
