Nissan Repair: 1995 nissan quest, nissan quest, cold start

Question
QUESTION: i have a terrible time. i have a 95 nissan quest. it hard to start on the first time of the day. after that it starts normally. the mechanic already did the major tune up. change fuel pump, fuel filter , fuel replay, trainer, temperture sensor, iacv, but it still hard to start, i have to press the gas pedal to help it start. please help me, very appreciate

ANSWER: Hi Dien -

The only other thing I can think of is your cold start valve. When the car is cold, it pre-injects a little gas in your intake manifold to assist in starting.

the way to check this is when the car is cold, remove the intake boot and spray some starting fluid in it. Try to start it right away. If it fires up, you have found the problem.

ANSWER: Hi dien -

Can you ask the mechanic to do the test I mentioned? That will eliminate some things.

Let me know, please, and you may email me at cjiwash@yahoo.com

QUESTION: Hi Calvin

thank you very much for your reply. thank you

Answer
Hi Dien -

OK, if the car remains running when you prime the intake, then you must check to see if you have something like a cold start valve. It could be under a different name, but they all do the same function - to prime the intake manifold when the engine is cold. Check to see if you can find an injector like device anywhere on your intake manifold or boot.

Hope this helps -
