Nissan Repair: disable car alarm 97 nissan Altima, neutral safety switch, nissan altima

Question
I have a 97 Nissan Altima that has a factory installed car alarm in it.   Now I had a problem once before where the car would not start, it would make absolutely no noise at all when you tried to start the engine.  The lights ect would come on fine but the car would not start.  The only way to get the car started would be to pop the clutch.  Started doing that once in the blue, and then it did it on a regular basis.   My prior mechanic diagnosed it as the security system thought that someone was trying to steal the car, and disable the engine so that it would not start.   He fixed it, but now the same problem is starting up once again.   Is there a way to prevent it at all?  Can the security system be permanently disabled?   Is this a correct diagnosis?

Answer
Elizabeth,

If the car will not turn over and you pop the clutch and it does that would lead me to think the neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal is defective.  You could simply wire around the switch to see if it solves the problem.  If it does replace the switch.  If this is alarm related use your key to unlock the driver's door (even if the car is unlocked) turn the key, in the door to unlock and then start the car.  To disable the alarm you could wire around the body control module that controls the alarm or go to a Nissan shop and have the alarm feature eliminated via software, using a Consult II.  The problem with doing it with the scanner, at the dealer or Nissan shop is most will not do it due to liability issues.  They disable your alarm and your car gets stolen and they are worried about getting a law suit...  I still think it is the neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal...
