Nissan Repair: 1998 nisssan altima, heater core, core problem

Question
QUESTION: Hi you have helped so much! Iam the one withthe  overheated car, idle pully problem and finally fuse link problem. Now that we fixed all, everything works except the heater does not put our heat it blows but no heat--do you think with the overheating of the engine and the seized idle pully could it have fried the heater core? Thank you.

ANSWER: Mary,

The heater core would be leaking if it was blown.  I think you have air trapped in the heater core so all you are going to need to do is loosen one of the lines to the heater core and bleed out the air.  Trapped air is causing the heater core problem.

QUESTION: Hello again- both fans for the radiator will not kick on Unless the air conditioning is on. We replaced thus far the coolant sensor, the radiator and the thermostat--what suggestions do you have, Thank you

ANSWER: Mary,

If the fan will not come on unless the airconditioner is on would lead me to think the low speed fan relay is defective.  I say this since you already replaced the sensor.  There is a box under the hood that has relays in it.  Switch a relay to the fan relay spot that is the same type and it should work.  If so, purchase a new relay.

QUESTION: we bled both lines from firewall to heater core, Heater blows differently ,but still no hot air. All relays are good, still fans will not come on and the engine overheats. Fans will only come on when ac is on. We have been working on this for a week now any more suggestions?

Answer
Mary,

If the car is still overheating check the thermostat and fuel pump to make sure that they are working properly.  If the fan will not come on and the relay is good then the wrong temperature sensor was replaced.  There is one for the gauge and one that runs the fan.
