Towing Issues: Towing my Miata 5 speed on a dolly, wheel drive car, car dolly

Question
I am moving from Orlando to North Dakota (yes Its going to be cold)and I bought a car dolly in order to pull my Miata behind my 4x4 V8 Explorer. I have read that I have to disconnect the drive shaft to tow a rear wheel drive car. Do I need to do this since my car is a manual and rear wheel drive, or should I just put the rear wheels on the dolly? The dolly does have a pivot platform. I am getting mixed answers so I appreciate the help.

Answer
I try to stay away from these questions as there are lots of factors in this issue..

But yes the best method would be to load the vehicle backwards (rear wheels on the tow dolly) and go that way... Make sure you secure the front steering wheel in a straight - locked position (do not trust the steering lock which is active when you remove the key)
