Nissan Repair: 98 Maxima Starting Problems., knock sensor, coil pack

When cold, the engine will either start up and drop down to around 300 rpms and idle back up or immediately die.  If it dies it will not crank unless you give it gas when you hear it start.  After one start, this does not occur again unless car sits for several hours 4-6 maybe.  Also, the car has began missing at stoplights maybe even stalling (Drops down around 400 rpms).  When you accelerate is jumps and chugs.  I code came back as a misfire on cyl 3.  I replaced the coil pack, but a code is still coming in for the knock sensor.  My parts guy says it is probably something else causing the code for the sensor.  Any suggestions to the start and this?

The knock sensor will do all you say to include the stalling and quitting at idle.  I would change the knock soon and reset the code and you should be fine.  Now, I will assume you have replaced the plugs?  Anyway, the knock sensor code usually only means that it is the knock sensor and that is why I say to replace it.  Nissans are known for knock sensors going out.  And, when you consider ten years it is not too bad...
