Nissan Repair: 2002 NIssan Maxima, high gears, nissan maxima

Hey I have a 2002 six speed Nissan Maxima I ve noticed that when I have it in a gear and i press on the gas pedal the rpms go up and then come back down for example i will be in sixth gear and rpms at 2000 i ll press the gas pedal down the rpms will go up to 3000 and then come back down i never touch the clutch pedal its happen before but it went away and now its back again. I am thinking the clutch might be going out.

Yes, you are correct. There is a good chance that the clutch is going. It usually (slippage) starts in the high gears. If, during the higher RPM's the car does not have power, and you feel it catching slow;y as the RPM's drop, it would be a safe bet it is the clutch.

If you feel it bogging, however, you might want to check the fuel pump.
