Nissan Repair: Brain dead Pulsar ...part 2, new brain, fuel flow

Question
ok heres the story, the car was running fine, died crossing a road, we checked everything a person would check, at wits end took it to a shop to have it diagnosed, Mechanic said it was brain dead, 500 for a new brain 500 for labor....its was Grandma's car and she didnt want to fix it....we towed it home, I got 2 brains from Craigslist, the OEM brain is a 104........the replacements are a 103 and a 104A...the car is an Automatic with a 1.6 liter.....the 104A is in the car, the RED & GREEN are on on the brain.....car turns over but wont start, tried starting fluid, new battery, new plugs, new wires, new cap and rotor, new coil....appears not to be getting spark.....help

Answer
Kim,

Check the distributor to make sure the optical trigger mechanism is not contaminated with oil.  Other causes for the ignition not getting spark are the coil not working or the ignitor is defective.  It sounds like the 104A is working properly.  Also, check for fuel flow.
