Chrysler Repair: transaxle relay: 92 lebaron conv., lebaron convertible, inner fender

QUESTION: I just had my waterpump and timing belt replaced. When I got it back the car was stuck in first gear. finally found a guy who knew what he was doing and a relay next to the computer was out. there is 2 relays he didnt know what the other 1 was.he switched them around.    ineed to know the function is, The # on it is 3121A3

I assume you mean the lebaron convertible or 2 door coupe, not the 4-door sedan. Please let me know, and also were these on the inner fender on the driver side or in a box?

QUESTION: convertible there is 2 computers 1 on passenger side that one is for transaxle the other one is next to battery is for engine or so i am told  the one on passenger side is where the two relays are

Hi Debbie,
Thanks for the details. The only other relays on the right side are for the Anti-lock brake system (one is called the 'abs system relay' the other is 'abs warning lamp relay'). So depending upon which one he exchanged it has to be one or the other. These abs relays are slightly different than the trans relay so you should get the proper replacement 'trans safety shut off relay' and then exhange them back, and throw away the old trans relay that is presumably no good.
