Nissan Repair: front timing cover, tensioner pulley, haynes manual

Question
how do i get the front timing cover off of a 1995 maxima 3.0 6 cylinder engine

Answer
Paul,

If you are going to replace the timing chain it is a task.  First, jack up the passenger side of the car and remove the front wheel and the inner fender well.  Then, remove the belts and harmonic balancer along with the accessories like the idle tensioner pulley and then all the bolts that hold the timing cover on.  Then, gently pry the cover off making sure not to nick the aluminum.  You have to be really careful and once the cover is off you have to clean all traces of sealant as well as clean the bolts and the threaded holes.  I would purchase a Haynes Manual to show you the pictures of how it is performed.
