Nissan Repair: one spark plug misfiring, nissan sentra, auto electrician

Question
I have purchased a used 2002 nissan sentra, auto-trans and the engine shakes on motion.
results from diagnosis revealed that chamber 2 was misfiring.
the non functional resistance coil has been replaced, the problem prevails.
the head was opened to check the valves and valves seals - mechanic claims it is intact.
opens rings to check - mechanic again claims it's intact.
Now, the car won't start - an auto electrician checks brain board and identifies two bloated tiny spots and concludes that the whole problem is from this area,
How can this problem be solved? thank you.

Answer
Hi Richmond -

Before we blame anything costly, I would go back to basics.

A car will not start because of 2 things - lack of fuel, or lack of spark.

Fuel is easy to check -
Spray some starting fluid or gas into the intake throat of the engine and try to start it. If it starts, then replace the fuel pump.

To check spark -
Pull out a spark plug wire, insert a screwdriver in it until it is held by the terminal inside, and hold it a few inches away from any metal surface while someone cranks the car (be careful NOT to touch any metal surface while doing this!) and see if there is a spark jumping across the screwdriver and metal surface. If there is no spark, check the distributor cap or rotor for carbon tracking. Check the ignition module or coil as well.

If you have spark and fuel, then take a cylinder compression test.

Hope this helps!
