Nissan Repair: 86 200sx, headlight motors, headlight switch

Question
The headlights won't go off or retract unless I pull a battery cable. I unplugged the headlight switch to try to isolate but that didn't change anything. The lights are also stuck on high-beam. The connector to the headlight sensor is really cruddy. I'm not sure what the headlight sensor does but there has to be something that is stuck on other than the headlight combo switch. I just bought the car and another thing wrong is that when the key is turned off the clock and radio go back to default. They are not still getting battery with the key off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
Jim,

There are relays for both high beam and low beam as well as the headlight motors.  If unplugging the headlight switch did not work I would look at the relays.  Also, if the connector is corroded I would disassemble and clean and reassemble the connector.  Corrosion will cause a high amp draw and that could have cooked the relays in the first place.
