Nissan Repair: birthday car jerking, valve cover gasket, gasket kit

Question
hi von, me again i asked about the 92 nissan jerking. anyways i bought a new ditributer put it on. and was going to change the valve cover gasket while i was in there. on the under side of the cover there is a port that it looks like a square gromet gasket goes over and smasheshes down on a port on the head. i cant find this gasket at any auto store around. nobody knows. this is about an inch by an inch and from me blowing thru it i found it is a port that a emission hose connects to on the top outside of the cover. please tell me what its called and what gasket kit it might come with. oh and the dist was soaked with oil on the inside lol you hit that on the nose. but i cant drive yet to know for sure till i get the valve cover back together. thank you for your help.

Answer
Tom,

The internal gasket is for the crankcase vent and is not a problem since it is for directing air out and not oil splash.  I would get one from the dealer since most stores have no idea about the internal workings of the valvecover on a Nissan or for most Japanese imports.  If your internal gasket is not torn you could just reuse it and replace the valvecover gasket.
