Nissan Repair: 2003 Altima overheat/wont start, coffee creamer, head gasket

Question
When trying to start engine, what would cause coolant to pump out of radiator?

Answer
Ed,

If the engine ran out of coolant you will need to find that first.  If the engine was overheated then you need to figure out if the head gasket has blown or the cylinder head or block has cracked.  Usually, if the pump blows a seal you will find that the oil is contaminated with the coolant.  Check the oil for antifreeze.  If it leaked into the oil the dipstick will look like is has coffee creamer on it.  If there is none there, pull the spark plugs and examine any for really white and celan electrodes where they have been steam cleaned by the coolant entering the combustion chamber.  In either case, if you find contamination in the oil or a really clean sparkplug you have a blown headgasket at the least.  This would explain the engine not starting.
