Nissan Repair: transmission, clutch release, clutch pedal

Question
I have a 1986/87 hardbody 4X4 D21 6 cyl. One day I went to shift into 3rd and could not get it to shift into any gear without it grinding. I pulled over, shut it off pushed in the clutch and shifted through all gears with no problem. When I started up again I had the same problem. I shut it off and tried To start it in gear and it began to shake like crazy. I've changed the cylinder and that was no help. I just bought the truck and was told the clutch only had about 6000 miles on it. Any ideas? Thank you for your help and time Robert.

Answer
Robert,

You need to get under the truck and see if the clutch release fork is actually working.  That is, is it actuating when the clutch pedal is depressed.  If not then you will need to bleed the system again.  The clutch should release when the pedal is depressed.  It is not likely, but there is a chance that he pressure plate is defective and not releasing.  But, from my experience it is usually the clutch slave or master cylinder that goes and keeps the clutch from releasing properly.
