Nissan Repair: Car dies out, nissan altima, dashpot

Question
I have a 94 Nissan Altima GXE, it seems to die out when I come to an abrupt halt or just when I'm slowing down. I have to give it gas so it doesn't go out. Also the car dies out at times just when I go to start it or while I'm driving, I have to fiddle with the baterry cables to get it started, but know that doesn't seem to be working. The car alarm is weak when I beep it too. Help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer
Kevin,

Could be that the alternator is not putting out sufficiently to charge the battery or that the battery itself is going bad.  Go to Autozone or Checker and they will do a free electrical inspection on the charging system.  Also, if the car dies coming to a quick stop I would look at the idle dashpot that slows the throttle plate from slamming shut.
