Nissan Repair: 98 Infiniti I30 with 109, 900 Miles, wheel drive cars, front wheel drive cars

Question
I went for an oil change on 10/31/07 and the service place said I needed to due a Trans Flush, Power Steering Flush, Radiator Flush, Replace all Radiator Hoses, Replace Fuel Filter, Coolant Flush, and a Fuel System Tune Up

I think this guy took one look at me being a Blonde and Female and figured I would due eveything he said.

I thought the Trans Service is every 30,000.

I though the coolant flush was evey 48,000

I thought the radiator flush was every 36,000

I can't find in my manual anything about a Power Steering Fluid Flush.

I live in Illinois so I due know that different things due apply in different areas for certain items on your car.

Can you advise me on these items?

Answer
Rachel,

You probably did not need to do everything on the list.  But, that depends on when they were done last.  It is a good baseline to go by now that everything has been changed.  On the power steering you are money ahead since front wheel drive cars tend to cook power steering fluid and a rack and pump would cost around $800 to $1000 to replace.  So, that was not too bad getting the power steering fluid replaced.  The transmission is much the same since a new one of those is around $2500 bucks so you did good on all the above.  One thing that I did not see was the brake fluid.  I would get it flushed by having a shop power bleed the system or manually bleed the system since the fresh fluid would keep the ABS unit and other components in good working order.  All in all, I would say you did good getting your Infiniti baselined with all new fluids.
