Nissan Repair: 87 pathfinder batt light on, light dims, 3000rpm

My 87 pathfinder radio turned off and engine turned off.Bought new batt. now batt,tran,and seat belt light on.tran/seat light turn off 1500rpm and batt light dims at 3000rpm.I think alt. is good looks new.what could be wrong

If you did not like the answer I do not know what to tell you.  It is probably your alternator.  But, without a diagnosis I would ask that it be checked before you throw parts at the problem.  Also, if the old battery was defective, which it sounds like it was, the amperage draw on a close to dead battery can blow fuses and fuse links.  So, I would check them and I would get a free electrical inspection.
