Nissan Repair: STRUT BEARINGS, strut bearings, nissan maxima

Question
1996 NISSAN MAXIMA- THINK STRUT BEARINGS BAD...CLUNKING NOISE RIGHT FRONT SIDE...WOULD THIS MAKE CAR RIDE EXTREMELY ROUGH-TAKES EVERY (AND I MEAN EVERY) BUMP IN THE ROAD HARD...WOULD IT ALSO MAKE THE CAR FEEL LIKE ITS GOING STRAIGHT AND THE WHEELS GOING SIDEWAYS ESPECIALLY WHEN THE UNDERNEATH GET WET (CAR WASH OR IF ITS RAINING HARD)....ALSO HAD STRUTS REPLACED BUT NOT BY A SHOP...DO THEY NEED TO BE ALIGNED AFTERWARDS

Answer
C Walton,

Yes, the car needs to be aligned and the strut bearing plate would make a knocking noise if it was defective when turning the wheel and when hitting bumps.  So, check the bearing by having someone turn the wheel both ways while you sit up front and listen.  Do, get it aligned either way as it will eat the tires if you do not.
