Nissan Repair: 1995 pickup, fuel pressure gauge, fuel pressure regulator

Question
I just purchased the truck and the first tank of gas only got about 16 mpg.  The truck has a clean air filter, new plugs and wires, runs and starts fine.  I put injector cleaner in it, but it has only gone through a quarter tank.  I would appreciate any advice you can give.  Thank you, Jake.

Answer
Jake,

I would say you need to check the fuel pressure regulator since that is the prime cause of excess fuel consumption.  Get a fuel pressure gauge and screw it onto the fuel rail and measure the fuel pressure and compare it to the factory specifications.  Get a Haynes Manual for the correct pressure.
