Nissan Repair: 94 Pathfinder XE V6, radiator fluid, drip water

Question
why does my pathfinder blow white smoke and drip water out the tail pipe? It runs great but also tends to slightly over heat from time to time, i just keep adding water and coolant. Thanks for your time, Jordan

Answer
Jordan,

Sounds like you have a blown headgasket from the symptoms you describe.  You could get a kit to check for exhaust in the antifreeze for about $20 bucks to confirm my diagnosis.  Basically the fluid is one color and you put it in a container and using a bellows you suck air off the radiator through the fluid and if it changes color you know you have exhaust in the radiator fluid.  This means an internal leak in the engine and it is usually the headgaskets that need to be replaced.
