Nissan Repair: new car, wheel sensors, shop tomorrow

Question
How can it be possible that my new xterra already developed a problem with 437 miles? The ABS, SLIP, and VEDO something light already came on. Is this anything that can be fixed to be 100% like new or will I have constant problems with it? Also, I read the contract and cannot find any terms on canceling the purchase. How can an expensive item not have a cancelation option if it's not working properly? I bought this vehicle exactly one week ago and it already had 57 miles. What do you suggest I do?  I am taking it to the shop tomorrow morning.

Answer
Esther,

This could be as simple as the system having an air bubble in the brake fluid or as interesting as one of the wheel sensors being defective.  To know for sure the technician will put your car on the Consult II or Consult III and read the computer codes for the problem.  I would not be too concerned since this is just an initial problem.  Mows new cars have a couple of issues the first year and then it is fine for the long haul.  The ABS system now includes traction control and a vehicle dymanic management system to keep the car under control under hard cornering or a situation like hydroplane on water or slipping on ice.  It is a really awesome system so let them check it out and have them give you the print out of what the codes were that they read along with their correction of the problem.  Email me back if you have problems.
