Nissan Repair: 2000 maxima high idle, vacuum leaks, air control valve

Question
I recently changed ignition coils and plugs, used oem plugs, hesitation not nearly as bad. cleaned throttle body, for the first time 103,000 miles, hesitation seems to be gone, but idles at 1000-3000 rpm and sometimes lopes, not familiar with idle air control valve, can this be cleaned, feel maybe some dirt is trapped in valve, throttle body was very dirty, any other suggestions?

Answer
Brian,

You are sure no vacuum lines were disconnected?  If all is connected correctly I would be looking at a vacuum leak first.  If there are no vacuum leaks then check the throttle position switch to make sure it is not worn out and not reading properly at idle.  Get a Haynes Manual for the test and procedures along with photographs.  The idle air control valve could be stuck open but I have never seen one on a Nissan do this.  But, there is always a first time...
