what is the trick to changing the fuel filter on a 98 Fronteir without getting gas all over the place?

Remove the filler cap to release pressure and put the cap back on.  Then, release pressure at the fuel rail pressure test port.  Now, jack up the front of the vehicle to attempt to keep the gas at the back.  And, lastly you should try to run the fuel level down before you change the filter.
