Nissan Repair: 1997 nissan altima flooding out, nissan altima, cat converter

i have a97 nissan altima 2.4 while driving it will flood out and blow out black smoke replaced cat converter plugs plug wires distributor cap rotor button.check engine light not on.what could it be? runs fine for about20 min

Eric,

There is something causing it to run rich.  This could come from a bad pressure regulator, a couple of stuck injectors or even a cam position sensor that tells the computer to fire the injectors.  Check the codes to see if anything comes up.  Autozone or Checker will check them for free if the check engine light is on...
