Nissan Repair: Misalignment-Nissan Murano 05, wheel vibration, nissan murano

Question
I was experiencing serious vibration in the steering wheel upon braking. I took my car for repair and was told that I needed front brakes and rotor resurfacing. After the job was done I noted a slight veering of the steering wheel to the right, a slight steering wheel vibration, and when I press on the brakes now, I have to press the pedal further down. Can this be a result of the work? Will an alignment fix the problem if it is a result of the work, and what can I do about having to press the pedal down so far to stop?

Thank,
Reda

Answer
Reda,

If the shop put ceramic pads on the car you will have a softer pedal.  I love Factory Nissan brake pads and if you can't get them use Performance Friction Carbon Metallic from Autozone.  I do not like ceramic pads of any kind, and I have tried most and continue going back to the factory ones or the Performance Friction Carbon Metallic ones.  I like to be able to stop and not have brake fade or a soft pedal.  Also, have the brake fluid flushed with Ford High Perfromance Brake Fluid and you will love the firmer pedal.  The alignment should correct the tracking problem.  You could have a tire seperating in the tread block and that could also cause the strange tracking.  Try rotating tires from front to rear and see if the problem goes away.  If it does replace the two tires that were on the front with new ones.
