Nissan Repair: 2 CYLINDERS MISSING, nissan sentra, dune buggy

Question
I HAVE A 93 NISSAN SENTRA THAT I CONVERTED INTO A DUNE BUGGY. I WAS JUMPING THE CAR AND ON MY FIFTH LANDING THE CAR STARTED IDLING ROUGH.  YOU CAN ACTUALLY HEAR TWO CYLINDERS FIRE THEN NOTHING FOR WHERE THE OTHER TWO CYLINDERS SHOULD FIRE THEN TWO CYLINDERS FIRE, REPEAT, REPEAT. I CHECKED MY PLUG WIRES, AND THEY ARE TIGHT, THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP LOOKS TIGHT AND WIRES TIGHT ON IT. COULD I HAVE BLOWN MY ENGINE? I WOULDNT THINK THAT FUEL INJECTORS WOULD SUSTAIN DAMAGE THIS WAY. POSSIBLY TIMING CHAIN? WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST?

Answer
Jonathan,

I would assume it is a four cylinder and if this is the case I would check a couple of things.  First, do a compression check to see if a head gasket is blown.  The two cylinders that are not firing are net to each other and will have really low compression compared to the two that fire.  If it was a chain or crank sensor all would do strange things.  Check the compression and email me back with what you find.
