Nissan Repair: 1995 Nissan Quest Thermostat, nissan quest, library faqs

Question
I have been trying to replace my thermostat, but I can't seem to get to it. I am following instructions from a web site: http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl721g.htm which shows the "water outlet housing". I removed the 4 bolts that hold the housing together, but the housing won't budge. I can't get the housing detached from the engine. Is there something else holding it on?

Answer
David,

You should only have to remove the two bolts that hold the housing and not the one where you are removing four bolts.  The housing is only for the thermostat and not the housing itself.  That is the part that bolts to the block.  All you want is the thermostat housing.  Follow the hose and where it connects is the neck you want to remove to get access to the thermostat.  Email me back if you need more.
