Nissan Repair: 98 maxima GLE no dash backlight, maxima gle, fuel gauge

Question
i have a 98 maxima GLE and one day i was driving and my dash lights (the speedometer and fuel gauge) just turned off. i checked power to the dimmer switch and it was fine. could it just be that the back light burnt out if so how do i replace it? thanks, tyson

Answer
Tyson,

If you have power coming out of the dimmer as well as going into it then it is probably the lights on the instruments.  Simply drop the column down and remove the screws that hold the instrument cover on and then the four screws that hold the instruments in.  Now pull them out and disconnect the connectors.  Access to the lights is on the back side.  Radio Shack is a good place to get the proper light bulbs cheap.
