Nissan Repair: Sporadic idle, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
I have a 1997 Pathfinder 3.3 in which I think I have multiple issues but I will let you decide. I am pulling code P0325 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 or 1 Sensor, which undoubtedly means that the harness is bad or the knock sensor is bad. That is ok, I can replace that, but the other issue is a fluctuating idle while cold. Upon starting (not moving) the idle is fine, but once I start to drive the idle will start searching or surging between 900-1600 RPM. If I come to a stop the idle will settle down to 800RPM. Start driving again “when its cold” it will search/surge again until the engine warms up. Even when warm the idle takes a long time to fall to 800RPM and you usally have to be stopped-not moving. If warm and moving the idle will hover around 1000RPM. I have replaced the ACC-idle speed control valve, TPS, PVC, cleaned the throttle body, cleaned the mass air flow sensor, checked the vacuum hoses and still it surges. No codes come up except the knock sensor (P0325). I will replace the knock sensor but the sporadic idle is what is frustrating, especially with no codes. Any ideas/advice would be appreciated.

Answer
from what you described, it sounds like a replacement of your knock sensor should cure your problems.  your knock sensor controls the timing of your engine, and it will throw a variable of problems at you that will defiantly frustrate you to know end.  i belive a simple replacement of this and you should be good.  clear your ECU too.  good luck and let me know how this turns out for you  xxp_sebby@yahoo.com
