Nissan Repair: 1997 4WD Nissan Hardbody, thump thump, nissan hardbody

Question
When cold, upon driving off, a thump, thump, noise, is heard along with a faint ticking sound at moderate pitch that winds down as truck slows to a stop.  Feels like something is stuck either in the transmission or transfer case that gets unstuck in about a eighth of mile, but only when coming to a full stop.  Afterwards, truck performs normally, i. e., the noise is gone.  Again, this only happens in winter.  What the "H" is this.  Nothing is loose in the drive train, all fluids have been changed - manual transmission, transfer case, and both front and rear differentials.

Answer
Josue,

I would think there is a dry universal joint.  Check out the rotating components with the vehicle un jack stands and rotate each tire by hand in 4X4 and in 2X4.  Email me with what you find.  But, it does sound like one or more of the joints is dry.
