Nissan Repair: 2000 Altima slight tugging, reving, shuddering, safety concern, med student

Question
Hi Von,
I noticed my car tugging underneath or bucking/reving I'm not sure how to describe it, delayed acceleration?-- when I am driving. It only occurs intermittently, and not necessarily at high speeds. Earlier this week, after driving it with no problems all day, when I turned the engine off it shuttered weakly and made an odd low-medium pitch vibrating drone. Can you please help a med student with no time or money to do the back and forth with the dealership? Right now I semi-freaked about driving home. I would appreciate any help. I hope it can make it through the week.

PS. (i'll do like the patients and drop a bomb at the every end) Last week, someone hit my side door and knocked off my side view light while it was parked, it wasn't really that banged up, maybe 10 inches of damage, but i didn't think it would have an internal effect.

Thank you very Much,
Janeil

Answer
Janeil,

If the car was hit the engine mounts could have been damaged and that would cause noise if one is broken.  Probably something touching since a motor mount is broken.  Nothing that is a safety concern.  But, I would get it on a lift and check the engine mounts.
