Nissan Repair: Crankshaft Pully Bolt 3.3L V6 99 QX4, bell housing, qx4

Question
I need to tighten the Crankshaft Pully bolt to 141 Ft-lbs. How do I stop the pully from turning in order for me to tighten the bolt. I dont want to wedge anything inbetween the belts, or maybe thats the way it is done. When I turn the bolt to tighten it the whole engine turns. It was easy to get it off, I just used my large ratchet and tapped the engine. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Answer
Richard,

A couple of ways to accomplish holding the engine.  Nissan has a tool that you can use on the balancer to keep it from turning while you tighten it and the other way is to remove the inspection cover on the transmission bell housing and wedge a screwdriver or a specific tool in the flexplate teeth to preclude movement.  You will probably do the latter since you do not have to purchase a tool.  The inspection plate is just behind the engine's oil pan.
