Nissan Repair: 2000 Nissan XTerra stalls out, nissan xterra, piston rings

Question
First sign of trouble is when the car began to expell large amount of blueish smoke out the tail pipe and made a horrible squealling squicking noise.  I shut off the engine immediately.  I started it again everything seem to be fine.  However, the car stalled twice and would not start up again.  Had the car towed.  When I tried to start it up again several minutes after the tow truck left, it started.  I started it again; it seemed fine until it felt as if it was jerking.  Finally, it kept jerking until it finally stop running.  It quanks and turns but will not start.  What is wrong with my poor baby?

Answer
Tonya,

Blue smoke would mean that oil is getting past the piston rings and with it starting and then jerking and then not starting at all would lead me to think the engine needs to be looked at.  Get a compression check done to see if the rings are good and have the static timing checked to make sure it has not jumped timing as this could cause valves to get bent.  Have these two things checked and email me back with what they find.
