Nissan Repair: URGENT! 1998 Maxima GLE, late model cars, alternator problems

Have you had any bad encounters with this car? can it go further then 200,000? Ive heard the alternator is bad on some 98s and can melt the plastic houseing

If it is a 1998 just replace the alternator.  Many late model cars have alternator problems when the bearings wear out.  Nothing wrong with the car and it just requires replacement before it shells out.  Your car can go many miles with a little maintenance here and there.
