Nissan Repair: 96 Infiniti I30, knock sensor, egr valve

Question
The check engine light came on and went off. It came back and stayed on. When the car is taken on a longer trip (40 miles), it feels like the transmission is going out.  No problems on short trips. Two trouble codes came up P0325 and P0400. I checked the knock sensor with digitial multimeter capable of measuring only 2 M-ohm. It registered >600 at highest setting. I'm not sure where to go from here.

Answer
David,

The knock sensor needs to be replaced that is the P0325 and the EGR valve needs to be cleaned or replaced for the P0400 code.  The knock sensor will check out fine and then it fails intermittently.  You can clear the codes and drive it for a while but I bet they will come back.  The 1996 is known for both of these codes.
