Nissan Repair: 98 Maxima a/c compressor replacement, pag oil, vacuum pump

Question
Upon removal of old unit i can't find any oil,so when installing do i put oil in a/c pipe fittings? If so how much?

Answer
James,

If your new compressor was not loaded with oil you need to add it to the unit in the holes before you install it.  Second, replace the receiver dryer to eliminate any trash that has collected in it.  If you don't replace it they will not warranty the compressor.  Be sure to get the proper PAG oil for the R-134 system.  Use new o-rings and lubricate them with the PAG oil upon assembly.  Then pump the system down and make sure there is no water vapor coming out of the vacuum pump vent.  Then, install the amount of refrigerant dictated on your under hood sticker.
