Transmission will not shift up thru the gears.How do I fix it?

If the transmission does not shift check the fluid.  If the fluid is fine check to make sure the cable for the shifter is connected.  If it is then you need to go to a transmission shop as the torque converter or pump is probably defective.  If it runs only in first gear and does not upshift then you are looking at the governor sticking.  In any case the transmission will have to come out and be rebuilt.
