Question
My car cuts out and the engine management light comes on, but if you start the car it will start with no problem. I have reset all the electrical connections and the relays and fuses. can you help pleas?

Answer
JJ,

Check the intake hose between the air meter and the throttle body for cracks and or loose clamps.  Also, you will need to find out what the code is for your car.  Get a Haynes Manual and it will show you the process and what the codes are.  You could try Checker or Autozone and if their reader works they will let you know what the code it and what needs to be repaired or replaced.  1996 was the introduction of OBDII so I do not know if their code reader will work for your car.  But, it is worth the trip if it does.
