Question
My girlfriend drives a 96 Nissan Altima. I was driving it yesterday and all of a sudden it started missing real bad at about 3000 rpms then it just went dead. I tried cranking it back up and it wouldn't crank. After about ten minutes it crank back up and was still missing. Then all of a sudden it was running fine. I drove it today and after driving it for about 30 minutes it done the same thing. I checked the gas and its good. I don't know whats wrong. Can you help?

  Thanks, Daniel

Answer
Daniel,

First, check the fuel pressure to make sure the fuel pump is working.  It could be the pump or the relay.  If you have sufficient pressure you probably need to look at the distributor for oil on the optics.  Now, you did not say if the check engine light was on?  If it is on go to Autozone or Checker and get the code read for free and email me back.
