Nissan Repair: wont start, fuel pressure gauge, fuel rail

Question
my engine light flickered on for a moment while easing up off the gas.  and then it did it once more while driving home, and it cut off.  I'm thinking its the fuel pump sensor or something. this has happened before and the guy who fixed it said it was an electrical issue him hoping its that simple again. help me out please.

Answer
Kaylin,

Check for fuel pressure by getting a fuel pressure gauge and hooking it to the fuel rail.  If you are not getting pressure check the relay and pump.  If you have fuel pressure check to make sure you are getting spark.  If no spark you will need to check the coil to make sure it is getting 12 volts in start mode and 9 volts in run mode.  If yes to this check the distributor for spark.  If no spark take the distributor cap, rotor, rotor post and cover off and check for the presence of oil on the optics.  If you have oil on the optics replace the distributor.  Emmail me back if you need more information.
