Nissan Repair: No Juice, memory clock, positive cable

Question
Battery died, new battery when I connect it the positive cable sparks.
Battery light is on in the car.

Answer
Hi Carl,

There is a curtain amount of drain on the battery at all times. The computer has KAM (keep alive memory), clock, etc.. there could be small sparks when hooking up the battery, but you should always connect the positive side first, then the ground (negative) side. Then go get an alternator and you should be fine. Of course, if the sparks are huge, then check the positive cable for a direct short to the frame where it might have worn through the insulation and is making contact. Also check the cables to the starter.
