Nissan Repair: 1998 200sx SE-R Dead battery, fuse box clicking, and difficult to jump, fuse box, car batteries

Question
My 1998 200sx SE-R won't start and presumably has a dead battery. I can hear AND feel a clicking in from the fuse box on the left side of the engine compartment (facing the car). I've attempted to jump it from another car, as well as use a 12V jump starter from Sears. Not more than a week ago, the battery died after I'd left my lights on (always the cause of a dead battery thus far), and I called a local towing service--he was able to use a jumper and got it started right away.

The battery's got to be on its way out, as I'd left my lights on for less than a half an hour the previous time.

This brings me to my questions:

1.) What's the clicking? Is it the security system attempting yet failing to arm because it doesn't have enough power?

2.) I'm pretty sure my recently purchased jumper was fully charged, and I'm completely sure that it was connected right. Any idea why there wouldn't be enough juice to start the engine?

3.) Any advice for remembering to turn off my lights? Obviously, my memory is inadequate, and so is the bell that seems to randomly go off to indicate I've left my lights on (rarely I notice it, mostly I don't--my hearing is fine--I'm 21 and I've got an uncanny ability to block out rhythmic sounds courtesy of college).

Answer
Colin,

Car batteries are not deep cycle and when they get drained a couple of times they wil require more and more power to get them to allow a car to start.  Even when you jump or assist them they drain the power from the starting system.  I would get another battery soon.  The noise is probably the relay panel next to the body control module.
