Nissan Repair: 2000 nissan maxima ignition coils, nissan maxima ignition coils, nissan maxima se

Question
Von,

I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE and the past few months have been hell. Recently my check engine light kept coming on and off. When it was on my car would sputter and basically misfire. I read the code that came up P1320 ingnition issue and then would tell me misfire in Cylinder #4. While this was happening my battery and parking brake light came on as well as all the lights in my car were very dim. I started driving my car the next day and all of the sudden all my warning lights were flashing and my car would go from total loss of everything to back on. If I jumped my batery the car would drive a few miles and then die again. I figured the battery was dead so I bought a new one but the battery and brake light are still on. Am I experiencing an alternator problem or could this be caused by my ignition sytem issues?

Help

Answer
Scott,

Change the alternator.  Once that is done you should not have electrical issues with the lights and such.  Now, if the misfire continues you will need to change the coils.  Replace them all and be done with it if they have not already been replaced.  There was an issue with the 2000 ignition coils.  rockauto.com or courtesynissan.com are good to get a deal from.  The dealer is almost twice the price...
