Nissan Repair: nissan pulsar q89 wheel bearings replacement, wheel bearings, wheel bearing

Question
Hey,

I have a nissan pulsar q 1989 as previously stated...
however to the point... i need to replace the front passenger side wheel bearings and i was wondering if you could provide a 'how to' in relation to this?

Thanks so much in advance,
Sam

Answer
Hi Samantha,

The wheel bearing is in the hub assembly. Here is the procedure:

Remove wheel bearing locknut while depressing brake pedal.
Remove brake caliper assembly and support to frame using suitable wire.
Remove tie rod end from knuckle.
Separate driveshaft from knuckle by slightly tapping on end. Cover boots with a cloth to prevent damage.
Remove strut lower mounting bolts, Figs. 1 and 2.
Loosen lower ball joint nut, then separate lower ball joint from knuckle.
Using a suitable tool, drive out hub with inner race from knuckle.
Remove wheel bearing inner race, inner and outer grease seals, then the outer bearing race.
Reverse procedure to install, checking wheel bearing axial play, refer to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES/WHEEL BEARINGS.

As far as adjustment, make sure it's as tight as you can get it.
