Nissan Repair: cv halfshaft for 98 mercury villager, cv halfshaft, mercury villager

Question
I would like to know how to replace the cv halfshaft on drivers side please.

Answer
Wendy,

A rebuilt one costs about $100 bucks at the parts store.  To remove yours the tire, brake caliper, rotor have to come off.  The large nut on the end has to come off and the spindle comes off at the strut.  Then the tie rod end and then you can get a large screwdrived to pop the inner part out of the transmission.  Installation is reverse of removal and you will need an alignment done after you get it all back together.  Get a Haynes or Chilton manual as the pictures are very helpful.
