Nissan Repair: 1997 Nissan Pathfinder, sway bar link, nissan pathfinder

Question
Hi Dinger, I have a 97 Nissan Pathfinder XE Klondike (gold trim) edition. 4X4 5 speed. Something (I am not sure what, has broken off the front strut)  a little rod that joins the strut (the post that has the wheel on it... not too sure about the terminology) to a bar underneath the front of the truck has broken loose at the strut end, it looks like it is connected like a ball in a socket and it has come fully off on the one end. I know I will have to goto a mechanic but I don't want to get hosed. Any idea what it is I need done and approx cost?

Answer
Hi Scott,

That is a sway bar link pin. Pretty easy do it yourself problem. A repair shop, not the dealer, will charge about $100 or so. You can buy the part at any auto parts place for about $18 for a set of two, and install it in 10 minutes. Do both sides though.
