Nissan Repair: Loss of acceleration, mass airflow sensors, fuel gauge

Question
I have an '05 Altima and today while driving I lost the ability to accelerate and I loss the power steering. The car will just stop but the instrument panel lights will still be on. After several attempts to restart it, I was able to drive a whole 1/4 of a mile before it died again. This happened several times. I did notice the the RPM gage would jump between 0 and 4 without the engine reving up and then it would die. What do you think is up. There is not one dealership open around here on Sunday.

Answer
Stephanie,

You are looking at going to the dealer.  The car either has a defective fuel pump or the electronic ignition is going out.  To know for sure you will need a fuel gauge and adapter to check the fuel pressure.  If the fuel pressure is correct then it is a matter of looking at the ignition.  Is the car showing the check engine light?  If so, pull the codes and you will find out the problem the computer on the car is experiencing.  Now, the Altima is known for blowing mass airflow sensors too so getting the codes is important to know for sure.
